About me
I am Kathleen, I am Belgian by birth, and British by affection for my adoptive country. I lived in London for 26 years and, since 2013, on the beautiful Sussex Coast in Eastbourne.
In my working career I have concentrated on organisations and people. It’s been a varied, challenging and ultimately rewarding series of experiences. Looking back, it strikes me how my values influenced my career choices and, in turn, my work experience sharpened my sense of “what I am about and what I would like to contribute”.
Major themes have been:
- the world of education and the impoverished nature of many learning experiences on offer (whence my interest in artful inquiry and action research)
- the problematic nature of gender stereotyping and the continued impact of the historically inferior place of women in many cultures
- our human-centric disconnect from our context and the dire results confronting us today.
Just as I took my fascination with ‘making’ and arts into my work, I am now incorporating themes from my professional practice into my art. Welcome to my world.
